The Psalter is one of the books that make up the Old Testament. The first author of the psalms is King David. In the Jewish tradition, the book of Psalms is called “tegelim.” The poetry of the Psalms is sublime and enthusiastic.

In addition, according to the ancient monastic tradition, the entire Psalter is read in a row for one week. That is why the Psalter is divided into sections, there are 20 in total, each of them in turn is divided into kathisma. In each kathisma from six to nine psalms.
The authors of the psalms from the Psalms are people who had a special relationship with God, close to Heavenly Father. The words that they wrote, praising the Lord or, turning for help, were left to us for edification, as a kind of example of sincere and ardent prayer. The church included the teachings of David in worship, and the book of Psalms is sacred to Christians, as it is part of Scripture.
