The Molla family made a huge contribution to the development of the musical culture of our city. Gaetano Varfolomeyevich Molla (1845-1894), born in Milan, stood at the origins of professional musical art in Taganrog. He arrived in Taganrog in 1868 by invitation as a choirmaster, accompanist and conductor at the Taganrog Theater. He gained popularity and love among the townspeople. He also managed for many years a symphony orchestra in the city garden.
