Eating habits learned in childhood are continued in adulthood, and therefore it is important to shape them correctly from an early age. For this purpose, the Ministry of Education and Science commissioned the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) to prepare a nutritional education program for primary school students, Junior-Edu-Żywanie (JEŻ). The application was developed specifically for this program to help consolidate knowledge about proper nutrition.
The educational content in the JEŻ application was prepared by specialists from the Institute of Human Nutrition Sciences of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
A student using the application has the opportunity to get acquainted with the 12 Powers of JEŻ, which are unlocked after scanning the shared QR code with the phone. Each Hedgehog Power consists of short videos presenting educational materials, nutritional trivia, practical advice as well as tasks and simple experiments that can be done at home on your own and/or under the supervision of adults. Users take part in short quizzes and games that help to consolidate the acquired knowledge. Completing all parts of the Power of Hedgehog allows the user to earn points that expand the Garden of Power of the Hedgehog, where you can observe the gradual growth and development of selected plants. The application contains AR elements (3D avatars) and the user can choose one of the 4 heroes of the Hedgehog's Power.
Due to the fact that children and teenagers should limit the time of using electronic devices, the time of active use of the application is limited to 2 hours a day, when the application is inactive, the Hedgehog Power Plant appears on the screen, which will motivate the user to practical application of the principles of a healthy lifestyle.
The app is completely ad-free.
