Ewe is a Kwa language, from the Volta-Niger group of the Niger-Congolese family, which extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean. It is spoken in southern Togo, as far as Atakpamé, and in southeastern Ghana as far as Lake Volta, by approximately 4.8 million speakers.
