The Combi driver (intelligent African co-pilot) is an intelligent road safety information system that assesses a driver's level of alertness to reduce speeding and traffic accidents.
The combi driver drowsiness test is a test of sustained attention that measures the speed with which an observer reacts to a visual stimulus. Many studies have shown that intense fatigue due to lack of sleep or sustained effort deteriorates alertness, decreases motor performance and increases the frequency of errors.
■Test procedure
When the visual stimulus - a disc or a square
blue or red - appears, the user must press
As quickly as possible on the screen.
The stimuli follow one another at intervals which are randomly fixed between 500ms and 4 seconds.
The total duration of the test being 40 seconds
The program records all the times of
reaction and compares them to the reaction times of
references which are those that the user will have defined
during the session(s) at optimal arousal level.
If the average reaction time is significantly different from the reference values, the user is warned of his state of fatigue or drowsiness.
Thanks to the history of his tests, the user can identify the periods when his level of arousal is not satisfactory. The application is then useful in planning his trip by car.
Note: to ensure the relevance of the test, a deadline
20 minutes is imposed between two uses of the application
■Definition of the reference level
Before the first use of the application, the user must define his reference level, which corresponds to the measurement of his optimal level of arousal.
This first test will serve as a reference for all
subsequent uses.
■Test procedure
To perform this measurement in good conditions, the user must be rested
(Full night's sleep) and settle in a quiet place so as not to be distracted. It is not recommended to carry out this 1st test on getting up or immediately after a meal.
This baseline can be reset at any time in the app menu.
■Warning:
This application should not be used by the driver while driving.
