Ibn Thufail (c. 1105–1185) full name; Abu Bakr Muhammad bin 'Abdul Malik bin Muhammad bin Thufail al-Qaisi al-Andalusi أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الملك بن محمد بن طفيل القيسي الأندلسي (Latin name Abubacer) is a Muslim Arabic philosopher, doctor and court official from Al-Andalus.
Born in Guadix near Granada around 1105, he was educated by Ibn Bajjah (Avempace). He served as secretary to the ruler of Granada, and later as vizier and doctor to Abu Ya'qub Yusuf, ruler of Islamic Spain (Al-Andalus) under Muwahhidun rule, at which he recommended Ibn Rushd as his own successor while he rested in 1182. died in Morocco.
In his day his reputation as a thinker & student has made him praised as Maecenas. Ibn Thufail is also the author of Hayy bin Yaqthan (Life, Son of Consciousness) philosophical romance, and the story of the allegory of men who live alone on an island and who are without contact with other humans discovering the truth with sensible thinking, and then are shocked by contact with society. humans for dogmatism, and other ailments.
