The Euro-Mediterranean Network for the Humanization of Medicine (HUM
MED) was founded in 2009 in Turin with the aim of bringing medicine back
to its primary, humanistic and holistic vocation.
Capturing a widespread need that has long emerged in the Western world,
the Euro-Mediterranean Network for the Humanization of Medicine unites
hospitals, universities, health protection bodies, and independent members
(researchers, anthropologists, artists, architects, economists, philosophers)
from Europe and from the Mediterranean basin, with the common aim of
reintroducing the arts, philosophy and spirituality into the context of an
increasingly technological and bureaucratized medicine.
The Euro-Mediterranean HUM MED Network supports and encourages
actions for the humanization of healthcare, designs and implements training
interventions for health professionals, develops support programs for active
participation processes for the improvement of psychophysical well-being
and quality of life aimed at to European citizens.
