About FindAlgae

This is for a PhD Project (Thesis).
There is a great demand for a clean, economical, and long-term energy source, due to the depletion of fossil fuels. This gives the algal production-based biofuel a wider energy source business standpoint, as Industry 4.0 is widely being explored. Large scale production of microalgae biomass for biofuel production is quite a challenge due to several factors such as costly photo-bioreactor, sustainable medium for optimal growth, and also time-consuming algae growth monitoring procedures. Moreover, the conventional UV-Vis Spectrophotometry approaches are excessively time consuming, costly, and inconvenient, preventing stakeholders from pursuing large-scale algae cultivation. As a result, modern digital technologies, and Internet of Things (IoT) were implemented. The use and development of mobile applications is a relatively new growing microalgae industry. This is because, mobile applications run on a small hand-held mobile device that is portable, easy to use, and accessible from any location. Hence, the goal of this mobile application (FindAlgae) is to a develop a smart algae growth monitoring by analysing its colour differences.
