Anto Sugiartono (10 April 1950 – 9 March 2012), known by his stage name Manthous, was an Indonesian singer-songwriter, artist and musician. He is considered to be the creator of the popular Javanese music genre known as campursari. Experience in Jakarta with B. J. Soepardi, Benyamin Sueb, Idris Sardi, Bing Slamet, Kwartet Jaya Group, and others. He then founded the Campursari Maju Lancar Group in Gunungkidul.
In 1969, he joined the Jakarta Keroncong Bintang Orchestra led by B. J. Soepardi as a stringed cellist. But then, in 1976, Manthous, who was also good at playing bass, founded the band Bieb Blues with funky rock characteristics together with Bieb's son Benyamin Sueb. Bieb Blues lasted until 1980. He was a recorder for Musica Studio. Then, Manthous joined Idris Sardi, in the Gambang Kromong Benyamin Sueb group. Apart from that, previously he was also Bing Slamet's accompanist when he performed comedy in the Kwartet Jaya Group. In 1990, he met A. Riyanto, who had a studio in Cepete, and often made recordings in this studio.
In 1993, Manthous founded the Campursari Gunung Kidul Maju Lancar Music Group. The work displays the uniqueness of campursari with existing Javanese styles. There are colors of rock, reggae, gambang Kromong, and others. There are also pure Javanese songs such as Kutut Manggung, or Bowo Asmorondono, with gamelan colored by keyboard and bass guitar. Together with the music group which was founded in 1993 and consists of brothers or colleagues from the area in Playen, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta.
