The Psych Engine was developed by ShadowMario, RiverOaken, Yoshubs, and (formerly) BBpanzu. It reworks the original engine, fixes many bugs in the vanilla engine, keeps the casual play aspect of it, and adds achievements and a credits menu. Many players consider it to be an easier alternative engine to FNF Modding Plus for new coders. Because of its optimization, ease of modding, and ability to load mods via the mods folder, it is generally considered one of the best engines. The engine was updated on 1 April, 2022, with version "0.5.3b (lammed)". The game replaces every song with Pico's Blammed, adds 'Blammed lights' to the menus, and plays Blammed lights every time the arrow is hit.
