About Ambia

Ambia is an app for various mixed-reality experiences, with which you can experience the outdoor trail around the Chocolarium in Flawil and also the "Design Promenade" in Zurich. The app uses your location to tell you if you're in the right place to start the game.

The outdoor trail at the Maestrani Chocolarium is an entertaining journey through the Botsberger Riet Nature Park where you meet the exciting characters of Maestrani chocolate and solve puzzles in augmented reality (AR).

The "Design Promenade" in Zurich is an entertaining tour through the city that comments on design in public space.

What is the Chocolarium?
The Chocolarium is a world of experience all about chocolate from the world-renowned brands Maestrani, Minor and Munz.

Where is the Chocolarium?
Maestrani's Chocolarium is located at Toggenburgerstrasse 41 in 9230 Flawil, Switzerland. It is a world of chocolate experience and an interactive factory tour.

How does the game work?
Ambia is a mixed reality adventure journey where you walk. First you go to the entrance of the Maestrani Chocolarium. After that you can follow the path and complete the different 3D puzzles.

How long is the game?
A tour lasts between 30 and 90 minutes and can be canceled at any time.

How far do I have to walk?
The tour through the Botsberger Riet in Flawil is 2.12 kilometers long (1.32 mi).
The Design Promenade in Zurich is 2 kilometers long (1.3 mi).

Can I share the game with my family?
Yes. The app works on mobile phones as well as tablets. On the walk through the Botsberger Riet, you and your whole family and all your friends can play together on one or more of the devices you brought from home. The app is set up in such a way that you can play through the various puzzles several times.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the tour is outdoors and takes place over paved roads and dirt tracks and as such is accessible without barriers or steps. The "Oberer Botsberg" section is a dirt road with coarse pebbles and a somewhat steeper incline.

Can I take the stroller with me on the tour?

Can I also use the game outside of Flawil?
The tour of the Maestrani Chocolarium can currently only be experienced in Flawil itself.

The app is currently available in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, Italy and France.

Why does the game app need access to my location?
The Ambia app guides the participants of the Maestrani Chocolarium tour through the Botsberger Riet using the GPS signal. To enable this, the app needs access to the location. This access right can be removed at any time via the Privacy menu in the system settings. See also our statements on data protection.

Why does the game app need access to my camera?
The Ambia app shows the participants of the Maestrani Chocolarium tour 3D puzzles on the camera image. In order for this to be technically possible, the app needs access to the camera. What does Augmented Reality (AR) mean?
When digital worlds and figures are superimposed on a camera image, this is referred to as augmented reality (AR) or mixed reality (MR). The Maestrani Chocolarium tour uses augmented reality by placing 3D digital puzzles in-camera at various physical locations around the Chocolarium adventure world in Flawil, Switzerland.
