An arcade game yes, but not the frantic sort, just take it easy and guide your narrow boat through some difficult situations. Slowly but surely is the way forward. Just like helming a normal narrow boat on a canal.
A birds eye view is what you get, but you must be very accurate with your maneuvers to gain "Highest Order" helmsman at level 8.
A quad core processor will run this simulation smoothly, anything less might not!

Level 2 Newtons Lock
Level 3 Reverse Dock
Level 4 Heavy Traffic
Level 5 Let's Have a Race!
Level 6 Turn your Boat Around
Level 7 Two Boats in a Lock
Level 8 Pick up a Passenger
Rise from Novice to the "Highest Order" Helmsman by steering your narrow boat through the 8 levels.
