Geovisor of the project "Biodiversity in Dry Ecosystems of Colombia": Sustainable Use and Conservation of Biodiversity in Dry Ecosystems to Guarantee the Flow of Ecosystem Services. United Nations Development Program (UNDP) - Rural Landscapes Corporation (CPR) (2014 - 2019).
In this geovisor implemented in ArcGIS Online, the location of actions developed in the “Biodiversity in Dry Ecosystems of Colombia” project is presented. In the project implementation process, the identification of opportunities for conservation and recovery of ecosystem functions, the socio-economic characterization at the farm scale, identification of key actors (Guardians of the dry forest), participation strategies, the generation and strengthening of capacities, were contemplated. the assembly and management of nurseries for the main and community conservation and the design and implementation of adaptive land plans, with 1557 ha under Landscape Management Tools for the conservation of ecosystem services, assembly of management systems and rainwater harvesting, systems silvopastoral, agroforestry systems, all of the above as part of processes that strengthened the adaptive capacity of the 61 Guardian families of the Dry Forest on their farms.
Within the six (6) river basins, totaling 104,359 hectares, in which the UNDP and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS) planned the intervention, the CPR applying its Landscape Planning methodology for the conservation of ecosystem services , focused on for each basin an area, which together totaled 31,104 ha, in which the properties that presented better conservation opportunities were prioritized. For this, a spatial model was developed at the landscape scale, which allowed to restore the connectivity of the tropical dry forest areas and the improvement of the ecosystem functions of biodiversity conservation, water supply, soil conservation, water regulation and water storage. Carbon in that ecosystem.
