URBAN GreenUP is a project, funded by the European Commission, that seeks to develop a methodology to implement and apply urban renaturation plans that help mitigate the effects of climate change and improve air quality and management of water resources, with the aim of increasing the sustainability of cities.
Three demonstration cities, Valladolid (Spain), Liverpool (United Kingdom) and Izmir (Turkey) participate in the project, which will validate and demonstrate the effectiveness of the URBAN GreenUP methodology.
This application has been developed for the Valladolid demonstrator. With it, it is intended to inform citizens of the Nature-Based Solutions deployed in the city and collect their opinion on them, to consider it in the analysis of their effectiveness in the quality of life of citizens and take it into account face to future interventions.
What can the app do?
The application offers four functionalities:
- Information on the interventions carried out in the city 📣
Known as Nature-Based Solutions (or NBS, for its acronym in English), it allows you to see all the actions carried out in the project.
- Respond to surveys 📝
You can give us your opinion, evaluate the different BSS and provide us with information to help us in our analyzes and to decide on future interventions.
- Use of the Green Corridor 🚴♂️
One of the interventions is the creation of a Green Corridor to facilitate mobility by bicycle or on foot throughout the city. This functionality allows to measure the activity in the same and to measure the impact that the deployment of green lanes has in the city.
- Classification 📊
Compete with friends by taking polls, learning about NBS, and walking the Green Corridor!
Who can use it?
All the world. The application is specific to Valladolid, but if you want to learn about NBS, you are welcome.
Why use it?
If you are interested in actively participating in the future development of your city, ecology, sustainable policies, sustainable technological solutions or you simply want to know why those plants in the marquee of Plaza España, this is your application.
Everything you can report to us we will take into account and it will help us to improve.
We protect your privacy
We are interested in knowing your opinion about the NBS carried out in the project and how they affect your life, and that is all we are going to collect with the application. There will be no questions regarding your identity, nor is there a user account, nor will we ask for your name or telephone number. All information collected is anonymous and we value it equally.
We need to know your location to be able to inform you when you are near an NBS or to measure your activity in the Green Corridor, but we do not know who you are, nor do we want to know what you do in your free time. The application only records events when you are next to an NBS to show you information or surveys or to record that it has been visited. Likewise, in the Green Corridor we record the distance that has been traveled and whether it has been done by bike or walking, in order to know its use and that you can see your level of activity compared to other users. On your mobile you can check the position you occupy, which you can teach and compare with that of your friends or family.
In short, we want to promote a healthier life and make you know and enjoy the benefits that these BSS report to your quality of life! 🌳
