Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi was born in Al Hayer, Al Ain, in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. She lived her childhood in the confines of a conservative, devout Bedouin family. Her Highness loved the simplicity of Bedouin life and its values, and derived her personality and culture from them.
Her Highness married Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God rest his soul - at the beginning of the year 1960 AD when he was the ruler of the Eastern Province (Al Ain). Then she moved with him to live in the city of Abu Dhabi after he assumed power in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on August 6, 1966.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak accompanied Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan during his reign of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and his presidency of the United Arab Emirates, and she was closely associated with him as he was her first teacher and inspiration. Her Highness devoted most of her time and attention to taking care of her husband, sons and daughters, and was devoted to their service. She lived through his intense preoccupation during the years of the political movement, and contributed to the formulation of his success story, of which the founding of the United Arab Emirates on December 2, 1971 is one of the most prominent chapters. All of these factors had a profound impact on Her Highness's career, as they contributed to crystallizing her intellectual formation and preparing her to assume the heavy responsibilities that she assumed in later stages.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak realized the importance of science, so she studied the Qur’an, its interpretation, the principles of jurisprudence and the noble hadith of the Prophet.
Her Highness's personality is characterized by humility, openness and acceptance of others, based on a firm belief that Islam is a religion of moderation and tolerance, in addition to her firm and strong determination and unlimited love for charitable and voluntary work inside and outside the UAE.
