Qatar is one of the Arab countries located in the east of the Arabian Peninsula and bordering the Arabian Gulf, and it has land borders that it shares in the south with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and sea borders that it shares with the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain, with a population of about 1.8 million in 2013. It has an area of 11,521 sq km.
Qatar can be described as a peninsula located in the middle of the western coast of the Arabian Gulf in southwestern Asia, with a length of one hundred and eighty-five kilometers and width equal to eighty-five kilometers, and surrounds most of the Arabian Gulf water, as the territorial waters of Qatar extend to about ninety-five nautical miles in width The sea is to the east, and about fifty one nautical miles to the north in the Arabian Gulf. Qatar has several islands, the most important of which are: Halul Islands, Al-Ashat and its sail.
