About Rumles blodprøve på sygehuset

The app "Rumles blood test in the hospital" teaches children how to master blood sampling.
For children, having a blood test can be a challenge, especially if they have had an unpleasant experience with it before.
With this app, children, on their own or with their parents, can play an understanding of what happens before, during and after the blood test procedure, and the child can learn to master techniques that can stress or distract them during the sampling itself. The app does this by 1) explaining the process in small, clear steps and 2) presenting the child with coping strategies, such as a breathing exercise that can be tested in the app.

In the app, the child can get recognition for his efforts after having a blood test - a diploma with the child's name and picture can be downloaded and printed.

There is also the option to see two animations in the app: an animation about the function of the blood in the body, which explains why the child should have a blood test and an animation about what happens to the blood test after it is made.

The app is in both Danish and Arabic writing and speech.

Rumles blood test at the hospital was developed by Hospital Lillebælt in collaboration with the South Danish Health Innovation for children aged 3-12 years, who must have had a blood test. The development work is funded by funds from the Hospital Lillebælt and the Region of Southern Denmark with support from the Ole Kirk's Foundation, TrygFonden, Helsefonden and the Danish Bioanalytics Education and Research Fund.
