MelRisk is an easy to use app, which calculates the risk of metastatic cutaneous melanoma within the sentinel lymph node.
MelRisk has not been externally validated so, at present, this app is intended for medical research purposes only. It was designed for health care professionals, specifically experts in the management of cutaneous melanoma. MelRisk should not be used by members of the public without the advice of an adequately trained doctor.
For patients eligible for sentinel lymph node biopsy, MelRisk generates a % probability of finding a metastasis. This % risk could be weighed against the known (11%) risks of complications from surgery, such as lymphoedema and infection. We invite doctors from around the world to test the external validity of MelRisk.
