The "San Martín de Porres" Parish Educational Institution of Tacna was created on November 3, 1967 with the Regional Directorial Resolution N.421, beginning with the primary level and in 1968 with the secondary level of Minors. Its founder and first promoter was the distinguished priest Rvdo. Father Luis Mellado Manzano. The “San Martín de Porres” Parish educational institution is a member of the consortium of Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Tacna and Moquegua, its current representative is the Promoter Rvdo. Father Edgar Márquez Barrios, has the spiritual accompaniment of the Congregation of Carmelite Missionaries of Saint Teresa of Jesus represented by Mother Florentina Clemente Venegas and currently the Directorate of the Educational Institution is chaired by Lic. Juan Carlos Lauriente Reyme. a teaching, administrative and service staff of 82 members in primary and secondary schools who provide authentic training, based on values with Christian axiology and strict discipline, to a total of approx. 1225 students. The fundamental mission of this house of studies is to educate youth with respect and discipline, under an authentic scale of Christian values, the student from San Martin is being prepared with love and humility to serve God and society. The end education is the development of skills and abilities that are evidenced by the academic and cultural artistic achievements that IE has been obtaining at a local, regional and national level throughout its history.
