THE EXHIBITION: THEME
From October 2021 to May 2022, the cultural and natural history of epidemics, including current challenges and solutions in modern medicine, will be shown in a large, highly staged and globally unique special exhibition.
Exciting stories are told of past tragedies, of advances and victories in medicine, but also of current and future challenges. The aim is not only to tell the story of disease control, but also to create awareness of the challenges involved, to counter irrational fears and to show the solution strategies of modern science and future-oriented health policy.
THE EXHIBITION: IMPLEMENTATION
Great works of art and historical objects are shown as well as the most modern forms of presentation such as walk-in areas and holograms to take you back in time or to witness the latest developments. For example, large animated and illuminated maps show the spread of infectious diseases. Elsewhere, you will get an insight into a high-security laboratory and encounter life-size models of the carriers of parasitic and viral diseases.
The exhibition is a cooperation project with leading medical institutions such as the Hannover Medical School and the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research. It is divided into the following topics:
Area I: Europe and the Mediterranean from Antiquity to the 16th Century.
Area II: Medicine in the Arab-Oriental region from the 9th to the 15th century.
Area III: From the 17th to the early 19th century
Area IV: From the beginning of the 20th century to the present
Area V: The Future
We wish you an insightful time with our offer!
