The designed app and portal ‘AgroLoomCraft’ is an integral part of the project “Capacity Building of the MSMEs in North-East India for Export Competitiveness” undertaken by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and India Exim Bank. The project aims at strengthening the technical and managerial capacities of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of North-East India in addition to providing market linkages to them. It also works towards enhancing the export ecosystem of the region. The project, which covers the sectors of Agriculture, Food Processing, Handloom and Handicrafts, is being initially implemented in Assam, Mizoram and Nagaland. The target group consists of MSMEs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Farmer Producer Company (FPCs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), cooperatives, enterprises, companies and individual entrepreneurs.
In this app, visitors can browse through the uploaded products and register as buyers if they wish to purchase a product. However, as the portal is not an e-commerce platform, no transactions take place on the system. Registered buyers can access the contact details of sellers and get in touch with them directly for making a purchase. The system has been designed to include both institutional and individual buyers who belong to domestic as well as international markets. Sellers can also register as buyers if they are interested in purchasing the products of other sellers
