The work of the Institute for Fisheries (IfF, LFA MV) to restore stocks of the Baltic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus) is unique in Germany and serves as a model for international projects.
The aim of the current project is to build up self-sustaining sturgeon stocks in the Oder catchment area and the coastal waters of MVs in the long term and to strengthen international cooperation and thus expand the resettlement measures to the entire southern Baltic Sea region.
In order to assess how successful the monitoring is, stock and catch data are collected in the app. The data mentioned is then evaluated by the project team.
