On 14 May 2016 the 750th anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Murcia by Alfonso X the Wise is commemorated. For this reason the council has organized a series of activities around this event which will begin on May 14, the date of the document, Rolled Privilege granted by King Sabio to the city of Murcia after the Spanish conquest.
The activities planned will run until May 30, 2017, the feast of St. Ferdinand, father of Alfonso X the Wise, and responsible monarch that his son, the then infant Don Alfonso, the conquest of the kingdom of Murcia.
The celebrations are divided into two periods. The first comprises from 14 to 31 May 2016, with a series of acts which are mainly held in the urban area of the city, occupying streets and squares of the same, coinciding with the seventeenth edition of the Festival Murcia Tres Culturas.
The second period over the next academic year will be held, beginning in September this year and ending in May 2017, with the organization of activities throughout the municipality, with the active participation of all cultural centers and municipal auditoriums for trying to bring the celebration of this anniversary to all citizens of Murcia. This period will end coinciding with the XVIII edition of Murcia Three Cultures Festival.
