With this app you can switch between maps from different periods. Besides the current map and the POL card from 2014 (Provincial Environment Limburg) you will find three historical maps from 1700, 1800 and 1900.
See how cities have grown over the centuries, where new sites were created and what the impact of urbanization on nature and landscape in Limburg. Also, you can add additional layers, such as municipal boundaries, streams and roads. Use the search function to find an address, the orientation rose to determine where you are on the map and the transparency slider to move yourself in time.
Time travel in Limburg was never so easy as with this app. Want to see a street or 200 years ago was already? How the meandering of the river Meuse was a hundred years ago? Was there in 1800 all buildings on the place where you live now? What nature has disappeared since 1900? The app provides insight into the most important spatial developments in the province of Limburg.
The most special maps in the app are the Tranchotkaarten (1800). These are seen as the first real topographic maps of Limburg. For the first time the digital maps are suitable for use with GPS.
Time travel in Limburg (TRINL) is published by the Nature and Environment Federation Limburg (NMF Limburg). The federation has approximately 100 Limburg environmental organizations connected. The federation is the provincial advocate for nature, environment and landscape in Limburg. It also brings together all the forces in Limburg who want to achieve the transition to a sustainable society. The slogan is: "Together for a beautiful and durable Limburg. The foundation is non-profit. NMF Limburg wants the app to motivate the user (active) to participate in actions to maintain and strengthen nature and landscape in Limburg.
