This non-profit app explores new ways of interactive binaural music composition and performance. Its sole purpose is to serve as a part of my set of compositions for my junior recital at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music.
The sounds here are, essentially, my music from https://khongchai.github.io/ASTRUM-2020/listen.html after having been broken down into smaller pieces. Each of the sounds will rotate binaurally, the duration of each cycle is dependant on the length of each sound unit, giving them different orbit time, creating a never-ending (almost) loop as they each rotate around the stereo space independently, taking turn filling in space as its colleagues turn silent (before replaying again).
In the app you will see that the sound sets are referenced by each of the planets in our solar system, as they were at the beginning, my main inspirations for the fixed-media work on my website; to create long-atmospheric music with the theme of astronomy. However, I also wanted to try my hands on the binaural audio creation as well, as the concept is relatively new -- interactable binaural audio from Play Store is even newer! The reason for my choosing to develop an app was mainly that in this day and age, our phones, have become so powerful; being able to comfortably perform over 1 million computations a second is no ordinary feat, therefore, I saw it fitting to leverage this now-taken-for-granted technology and make use of it in my composition works.
App features include:
*Select any sound from any planet that you want.
*Select a pre-defined set of sounds
*Change any of the 5 orbiting sounds; combining sets both in real-time and not in real-time should you feel like it(sounds from different sets might not work well together, so just keep that in mind).
*Scroll through time by dragging up/down on the main page to scroll each sound individually forward, spreading them around the audio space in the process.
You can view entire work for my junior recital here: https://khongchai.github.io/ASTRUM-2020/index.html
Important: Some sounds do not start right away, so you might hear silence for the beginning of certain sounds.

Known issue:
*Animations and sounds for shorter ones are not in sync
