"Job in Reality" is 5 virtual reality movies in 5 industries. The films, which target refugees and immigrants and introduce to the unskilled labor market in Denmark, are filmed in a concrete workplace within five industries with unskilled job openings: Transport, Retail, Hotel, Cleaning, Care and Care
Each film lasts 5-7 minutes and is spoken in six languages: Danish, English, Arabic, Farsi, Somali and Tigrinya.
The films can be used by municipalities, language centers, educational institutions, companies and civil society, etc. For example, they can be used in integration efforts and in Danish teaching. They can be experienced and relived and analyzed with learning in mind.
"Job in Reality" is a development project that is a collaboration between KL, Skive, Aabenraa, Aalborg, Rudersdal and Roskilde municipalities and Khora VR. Each film provides insight into a refugee's own narrative and experience of his or her workplace, as well as the demands and expectations he or she has been met with. At the same time, the films mock the Danish workplace culture, including the many unwritten rules, which are so hard to explain but must be experienced. Exactly the experience is in focus when using virtual reality as media. Virtual reality films in employment efforts can provide a great deal of empowerment in everyday life in a workplace. Many refugees and immigrants have neither knowledge of nor experience with the Danish labor market, but make a lot of ideas about it - for good and for bad. The virtual reality films can thus help to eradicate myths and facilitate the way to the labor market - and give an increased understanding of society as a whole.
