According to the available Pattavali of this Gachchh, the first disciple of Mahavira was Gautama and along with him 11 Gandharas i.e. the main disciples became. Before Mahavir Swami's Nirvana, 9 Gandhars had become Kevalgyani and soon after Mahavir Swami's Nirvana, Gautam Swami also became Kevalgyani, so after Mahavir Swami, the Paat tradition started with Sudharma Swami. By defeating Chaityavasi Suracharya in Patan, Shri Jineshwar Suri obtained the Khartar Virud in Samvat 1075 and his followers came to be known as the Khartargachha community.
