VUELTA 2023: ROUTE AND STAGES
Vuelta 2023The Gran Salida of edition 78 of the Vuelta a España takes place in Barcelona. The Spanish Grand Tour starts this Saturday with a 14.8 kilometres team time trial in front of roaring city crowds before stage 2 also finishes in the Catalan capital. Among many interesting stages are the races with iconic mountain top finishes at the Tourmalet and El Angliru. La Vuelta ends in Madrid on Sunday the 17th of September.

The Vuelta a España gets underway on Saturday. The 1st stage is a team time trial in Barcelona and the race is set to finish after three weeks of action on Sunday 17 September on a flat city circuit in Madrid. What's in between?

Saturday 26 August - The Vuelta a España opens with a team time trial of 14.8 kilometres in Barcelona. The route is virtually flat.

Sunday 27 August - The 2nd stage of La Vuelta sets off from Mataró and takes in two climbs in the first half of the race. The finale on the iconic Montjuïc in Barcelona should favour punchers, while the race totals 181.8 kilometres.

Monday 28 August - Stage 3 of La Vuelta takes the riders from Sùria to the Arinsal ski resort in Andorra. The dwarfstate is very mountainous, so the stage winner will be a climber. The climb to the line is 6.9 kilometres long and the average gradient sits at 8.2%, while the race totals 158.5 kilometres.

Tuesday 29 August - Stage 4 of La Vuelta is 184.6 kilometres long. The flat to undulating route is expected to come down to a bunch sprint in the streets of coastal town Tarragona.
