The Brazilian Red Cross is part of the largest humanitarian aid network in the world. It is one of 190 National Societies that make up the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Founded on December 5, 1908, it was constituted based on the Geneva Conventions, to which Brazil is a signatory.
It is a civil, non-profit, philanthropic, independent association, declared by the Brazilian government of international public utility, of voluntary assistance, auxiliary of the public authorities and, in particular, of the military health services. Its mission is to mitigate human suffering, without distinction of race, religion, social condition, gender and political opinion.
In Brazil it is present in 18 states. Its volunteers say that, to ease the suffering of the population, they are always the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Volunteering is one of the principles of the institution, which had public health professional Oswaldo Cruz as its first president. Before starting to work, everyone undergoes a Basic Institutional Training Course and Operational Communication training.
Based on all this history, the CVB wants to expand its actions to help the vulnerable population, through the CVB Store: a physical and virtual store, in which all people can purchase official products, patented by the institution, in addition, of course, to to support the humanitarian actions we carry out throughout Brazil.
MISSION
Act, in the event of war, and prepare, in peace, to act in all sectors covered by the Geneva Conventions and in favor of all victims of war, both civilian and military;
Contribute to the improvement of health, prevention of disease and the alleviation of suffering through training programs and services that benefit the community; adapted to the needs of national and regional peculiarities, being able also, for this, to create and to maintain regular courses, professionalizing and of superior level;
Organize, within the national plan, emergency aid services for victims of calamities, whatever the cause;
Recruit, train and apply the personnel necessary for the purposes of the institution;
Encourage the participation of young volunteers in the work of the Red Cross, qualifying them for the purposes of the institution;
Disseminate the humanitarian principles of the Red Cross, in order to develop in the population the ideals of peace, mutual respect and understanding between all men and all peoples.
