Plastic360 is an educational app developed for chemistry lessons in schools and student laboratories. The aim of plastic360 is to educate users about the life cycle of plastics and to sensitize them to the need for an improved circular economy. In addition to the target group of students and teachers, private individuals interested in the topic are also welcome to use plastic360 free of charge.
In plastic360 we show why plastic is so successful as a material, how plastic products are manufactured and what environmental problems are associated with their use. In a playful way and thanks to exciting videos, you will learn how we can avoid plastics ending up in the environment, how plastics can be recycled and the consequences of plastic waste in the North Sea.
The focus is on 4 main modules that work out the plastics cycle thematically with student-friendly specialist texts, short films and games:
Module 01 - Consumption and Responsibility
Module 02 - Plastics in the environment
Module 03 - Disposal and Recycling
Module 04 - Raw materials and processing
Additional materials prepare topics that are only briefly addressed in the app for reasons of clarity. They are used for deepening and can be downloaded as a PDF document.
The range of additional materials and short films is supplemented by experiment instructions for experimenting with plastic during class or at home.
The app, including the teaching concepts for school lessons and the learning modules for school laboratories, was created in cooperation between the SKZ - Das Kunststoff-Zentrum, the professorship for chemistry didactics at the University of Würzburg and the app development main Dreieck eCom GmbH. The project was funded by the DBU - German Federal Environment Foundation.
