Mohendra Dutt & Sons, a century old organization, established in 1882, had humble beginnings as Mohendra Dutt, the founder, it is said that he was a Pakhwaj instrumentalist in the Bardhaman Rajbari where the Raja apparently got his Britain-made umbrella by Mohendra Dutt, who enthusiastically did the job and hence a nobleman in the durbar offered him some money to start off a workshop for indigenously made umbrellas! And that's how the business it all started. With awards and recognition by Viceroys and the British administration in the pre-Independence era to being proud to have Rashtrapati Bhawan as a patron of umbrellas from our family post-Independence, Mohendra Dutt & Sons is officially the first umbrella manufacturer in the undivided India subcontinent.
Today the company has come a long way since we pioneered umbrella manufacturing, with 4 company owned outlets, 6 exclusive outlets and growing and 400+ dealers spread across eastern India and a corporate clientele pan-India and some exports.
Apart from offline retail, we have wholesale and distribution of umbrellas, rainwear, luggage and bags, walking sticks, hot water bags, hospital sheets, etc,.
We thrive for our quality and assortment leadership in the industry, because of which we grew for over a century since our inception.
