The National Council for Language Policy was first established in 2004 as the State Language Council. Pursuant to Article 6 of the Law on the State Official Language, approved by the Parliament of Mongolia in May 2003, the composition and charter of the State Language Council were approved by Resolution No. 67 of the Government of Mongolia in 2004.
