Learn about aspects of the history of the Berlin Charité during the Nazi era in a special way. The REMEMBER app accompanies you on a journey across the Charité Campus Mitte. The app takes you to six memorial sculptures and gives you artistic perspectives on this gloomy history. As an interactive memorial, REMEMBER deals with traces of this past and connects them with the present. Current technologies in the context of contemporary art make the silent scenes on the Charité Campus Mitte speak.
The app gives you on-site access to interactive video art, 360 degree videos, augmented reality and more. Two fictional characters, a nurse and a caretaker, accompany you on your journey through time. By combining the levels of memorial sculptures, video art and original locations, REMEMBER creates vivid memories.
“We want to strengthen respect for every human life and encourage reflection on one's own attitudes.” REMEMBER is the art project by the artists Sharon Paz, Jürgen Salzmann and Karl-Heinz Stenz, which won the 2017 “Trail of Remembrance” competition.
The project was developed in cooperation with GeDenkOrt.Charité - Science in Responsibility, an interdisciplinary working group of the Institute for the History of Medicine, the Berlin University of the Arts and the Berlin Museum of Medical History.
