About საქართველოს კონსტიტუცია

The Constitution of Georgia is the supreme law of the state of Georgia, adopted by the Parliament of Georgia on August 24, 1995. It entered into force in 1995 from the day of recognition of the powers of the newly elected Parliament of Georgia.

According to the Constitution of Georgia, Georgia is an independent, united and indivisible state, which was confirmed by the referendum held on March 31, 1991 in the entire territory of the country, including the Abkhazia SSR and the former South Ossetia Autonomous District, and by the Act on the Restoration of State Independence of Georgia of April 9, 1991. The form of political organization of the state is a democratic republic. State power, as in all democratic states, is implemented based on the principle of separation of powers — the state power of Georgia is divided into legislative, executive and judicial powers. The source of government is the people, who exercise their power through referendums, other forms of direct democracy, and through their representatives.
