Rimini, the largest beach resort on the Adriatic Sea, is a popular seaside vacation destination for Italians. There is an impressive 14.5 kilometers of beach area next to the city, but many parts of this area are closed and reserved for beachfront hotel guests only. The old town, which is about a 15-minute walk from the sea, has many interesting sights. These include the Arch of Augustus, dating from the 27th century B.C. and the early 1st century Bridge of Tiberius. Rimini also has many excellent restaurants and an active nightlife.
