Santo Rosario

The rosary is a traditional Catholic prayer that commemorates twenty mysteries (fifteen in the traditional way) of the life of Jesus Christ and of the Virgin Mary, reciting after each announcing an Our Father, ten Hail Marys and a glory to the Father. It is frequently designated as the Holy Rosary by Catholics. "The Church has always recognized a particular efficacy to the Rosary, entrusting to it, through its community recitation and constant practice, the most difficult causes"; Saint John Paul II said: "Through the rosary the faithful receive abundant graces, from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer."

The string of beads used to pray the rosary is also called a "rosary". The beads are separated every ten by others of different sizes and the string is joined at its two ends to a cross.
