Rohtas district is a district in Bihar state of India. The district headquarters is Sasaram. The district has three subdivisions, which include Dehri On Sone, Bikramganj and Sasaram. There is a very ancient temple of Maa Askamini at Bikramganj in Rohtas district. Rohtasgarh Fort in Rohtas district also has historical significance. At the same time, the famous tomb of Sher Shah Suri is also located in Sasaram. It is said that Sher Shah Suri started the present postal and telegraph system. The most special thing about this district is that the district magistrate office is in Sasaram, while the police headquarters is in Dehri on Sone. The judicial offices together are at Sasaram and Bikramganj respectively. The temple of Maa Kali of Dharupur near Bikramganj is also very famous. This is the only temple situated in the middle of the canal.
Rohtas district is a part of Patna Division and has an area of ​​3750 square kilometers, a population of 24,672 (2001 census) and a population density of 737 persons per km². The language spoken in this region is Bhojpuri. The administrative headquarters of the district, Sasaram Ai 9 is a place of thrice importance. Another important symbol of national pride is the Son bridge, built over the Son River there are two parallel bridges, one for the road and another for the railway. The road bridge (built by Gammon India in Jawahar Setu 193–75) was on the Sone for a long time (3061 m) in Asia until it was crossed by the Mahatma Gandhi Setu (5475 m) above the Ganges River in Patna. The railway bridge is still the longest railway bridge in Asia.
