The MycoMatch Mobile app for the Pacific Northwest contains over 2300 species of gilled mushrooms - over 1200 with photographs.
You can select any character (characteristic, facet, feature etc.) in any order. There is no required or implied ordered set of questions or features.
The app provides descriptions and photographs of hundreds of species complete with technical descriptions of physical attributes, spore color, color changes, chemical reactions, unusual tastes and smells, and habitat.
The apps scores the species by how well the species match the criteria you have selected and lists them in order from the best match (most characteristics matching) including a percentage match score.
You can compare the matching criteria of one or more selected species to see the details of why a species scores well with the criteria selected.
The app helps you learn the important characteristics of a species by providing nearly two hundred different characters you can select.
The data in the app has been collected from years of meticulous research and the reading of many, many sources with the help of mycologists and serious mushroomers with decades of experience looking at specimens in the field.
The data and photographs in this app were donated for educational purposes, so will always be free and can not be used for commercial purposes. The photographs remain the property of the original photographers who retain the copyright. Do not republish them for any reason.
At this time the app only contains gilled mushrooms of the PNW. Any future up grades with cup fungi, jelly fungi etc. will be continue to be free.
