About biodiverCity

BiodiverCity is a biodiversity geolocation tool on college campuses France. This application allows you to locate the observed plant and animal species and inventory in order to have a better knowledge of the biodiversity present around us and its geographical distribution.

BiodiverCity is a device that has the will to develop participatory science, offering a simple interface that requires no technical or special scientific knowledge. Everyone can and is invited to use it.

For this, users simply take a photo of the body he sees on campus via the application. Thanks to the GPS location of its smartphone, the photograph and the date and place of observation are automatically saved. A key characterization, as a quick questionnaire is also available to provide additional description of the organization in question (see screenshot above screen).

After the observation carried out, all collected information is sent to different databases: that of the participatory observatory Asset Fac (www.inventairefac.com) and that of the application. It appears on the website as an interactive map on which we find the observations made on each campus.

BiodiverCity is a project within the neOCampus operation initiated by the University of Toulouse III Paul Sabatier. The application currently works on the campus of the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse and on the campus of the University of Montpellier. It is designed to be usable and used on all French campus project partners Inventory college in order to standardize the data and automate collection.
