He answered them, and he left Mecca with his loyalists, his women, his offspring, and about eighty of his men. Hussein was severely wounded, and he fell off his horse, and cut off his head Shammar bin Dhi Al-Jushan, and sent his head, his women and children to Damascus.
His body was buried in Karbala. According to the Shiite narrations, his head was buried in Karbala with his body when the captives of the people of the house returned from the Levant, while the Sunnis differed over the place in which the head was buried, and it was said in Damascus, and it was said in Karbala with the body, and it was said elsewhere.
