Measure ambient noise with the help of a smart phone and contribute to an MCS (Mobile Crowd Sensing) campaign.
PIEMONS (Public Interest Event Monitoring System for Sparsely-populated Mountainous Regions) is a research project which started in 2018 at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology in Itanagar, India. It aims to log and monitor events which is of interest to the public with the help of mobile crowd sensing.
With the help of this application, a user can measure ambient noise level and contribute the measurement to an MCS campaign through a cloud server. Noise data thus collected can be used for generating noise pollution maps of the area covered by the campaign. Moreover, they can be used for data analytics for extracting useful information. Presently, this application is available only for Android OS.
