The app is aimed at people who know they are allergic, and can act in a targeted way on their exposure and/or their symptoms.
It is also aimed at people with allergies who are unaware of themselves, in order to allow them to take ownership of the cause of their discomfort, to adopt good practices and to enter a treatment circuit more quickly.
To keep this promise, La Météo du Souffle offers two free services: (i) prevention, explained below through the keywords Measure - Alert - Forecast, and (ii) advice.
PREVENTION
MEASURE (with method) The National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA, www.pollens.fr) has been the benchmark player since 1996 for monitoring allergens in the air: pollens and moulds.
The application is powered by data from the RNSA, i.e. 80 sensors meeting the standard in force, which are themselves supplemented by real-time observations from the automatic sensors of several European manufacturers operated by the RNSA. Thus, everywhere on the territory, you have access to representative information, where you are, as elsewhere in France.
ALERT (wisely) Prevention involves targeted messages, no need to cry wolf: a concentration of pollen does not represent the same risk of allergy from one person to another. It is for this reason that La Météo du Souffle takes into account each of its users according to four criteria: their age group, their gender, their possible relationship to tobacco and their possible known respiratory pathologies. It is then by considering its users according to the category to which each belongs that the service will transmit to them the level of risk of allergy which corresponds to them. This conversion of a pollen concentration into a level of risk by region and according to the profile of the user is a key feature of the prevention service offered by La Météo du Souffle.
The risk from one day to the next may not be the same for the same person depending on the pollution conditions: this is why the app also displays the level of pollution produced by the ATMO network. Taking pollution into account in the calculation of the Allergy Risk itself is currently supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region as part of the R&D Booster program.
FORECAST (to anticipate) Real-time concentration is not a risk, it says even less about the exposure of allergy sufferers in the days to come. Forecasting requires collecting other information for which the RNSA has been innovating for 30 years, such as monitoring the health response of the population, pollen region by pollen region, thanks to its network of sentinel allergists, and monitoring the stage of flowering of allergenic species, with botanical gardens, pollinariums (APSF) and several citizen observation initiatives. It is this know-how in aerobiology that is made available to users of the app through the predicted Allergy Risk, the only index recognized by the health authorities in France.
Be sentinels by reporting your feelings: you help refine the calculated Allergy Risk for those who share the same allergic profile, and you keep your allergy calendar up to date for your own review and that of your doctor.
THE BOARD
Pharmacists are the most directly accessible health professionals and our app allows you to locate the pharmacies around you to take advice. Other features will appear to allow you to avoid or reduce your exposure to allergens in everyday life. The RNSA has been at the side of allergy sufferers since its origin.
