The Junior Engineers Workshop (KMA) is an energetic, dynamic team of engineers and educators who are graduates of popular universities operating in the country and abroad (Boğaziçi, ITU, METU, Politecnico di Bari / Italy) and who are currently continuing their academic studies. KMA, which has been active in coding at an early age since 2015, has specialized in algorithm, coding, robotics and maker training, especially for the early period. The KMA team, which conducts doctoral studies on coding and algorithm education in early children, is working on creating tools and methods for children. Over 120,000 data have been collected in face-to-face studies for many years, and the learning and development processes of children have been carefully observed during this period. These observations were carried out within the framework of one to one study of more than 4,000 children and as a result of experience gained in Turkey by signing a policy early children's cognitive level appropriate to the specific coding tools have been developed.
KMA Coding Set, in collaboration with the Principle Child and Junior Engineers Workshop; It has been designed and produced by a special team of Engineers, Child Psychologists, Preschool and Primary School Teachers.
WHO CAN USE THE KMA CODING SET?
The KMA Coding Set can be used by preschool children aged 3 and above and all children in primary school period. With children aged 3-4 years; Understanding simple problems, creating solutions for these problems and transferring these ways to the code can be done. At the same time, pattern follow-up studies are carried out in this age group with the operations carried out by sequencing the written codes with sticks and transferring the strings to the code. In addition, it is aimed to strengthen the mental development processes by supporting the abstract thinking skills of children with tangram questions.
KMA Coding Set provides great success for 5-6 year old preschool children, in addition to 3-4 year old studies, in understanding complex problem sets with many different solutions and writing their codes. In addition, in this age group, problems involving functions are solved by method follow-up. Against such problems that require abstract thinking even for an adult, the KMA Coding Set offers very efficient results as it enables the transfer of the solutions to the code by concretizing them.
In addition to pre-school studies, primary school children can demonstrate and solve very complex and difficult to understand function problems in a concrete way. Especially in primary school children, it is ensured that very long and complex movement commands are implemented with limited code resource. The KMA Coding Set provides great convenience for children to understand why a function (subroutine) is needed, and how much larger operations are performed with limited resources.
