A revolutionary sustainable mobility system in Isola del Giglio, Monte Argentario and Orbetello offers tourists and residents the opportunity to move in an innovative, alternative and environmentally friendly way.
Funded by the European Commission through the LIFE + 2016 program, the "Life for Silver Coast" (LSC) pilot project, with an estimated cost of over € 5 million, brings exclusively electric vehicles to the territory that make areas not served by public transport easily accessible .
Available to users in strategic points of the city area: cars, scooters and bicycles with sharing stations for charging and releasing vehicles. For sea and land transportation, new boats and a shuttle service between Orbetello station and the city center.
The entire fleet is equipped with an intelligent charging system capable of meeting the needs of vehicles, adopting both terrestrial and aquatic rapid power supply solutions.
The new intermodal mobility system is also equipped with a network of fixed and mobile sensors for the collection of environmental data useful for assessing the state of health of the territory and the improvements made on traffic and pollution.
In addition to the municipalities involved, the project sees the participation of companies such as Enel X, Green Action, Newave Italia, On - Electric Sharing Mobility, Primordial, UNeed.IT and bodies and research centers active in the transport and mobility field, such as University of Florence and the Sustainable Mobility Hub (POMOS) of the Department of Information, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (DIET) of the "Sapienza" University of Rome, coordinator of the project.
