Among the basic nahwu materials that deserve attention is the nazham ad-Durrah al-Yatiimah which is before us today. That said, this is the Ajurumiyyah version of the Basrah school. Often this book is compared to the Ajurumiyyah because of the similarities in the brevity of the material in both. Even so, there are still some differences in language features between the two. We know that Ajurumiyyah is more inclined towards the Kufa school of thought, while al-Yatiimah is more inclined towards the Basra school of thought. This Nazham includes material that is rarely discussed even though it is full of knowledge and wisdom. To make it easier for students to get to know the nazham and also understand the basic rules of nahwu, the compiler makes a translation and also a brief explanation.
