The Importance of Memorizing Hadith
Rasulullah SAW once said (meaning): "May Allah light up the face of someone who hears from us the hadith and then he memorizes it and then conveys it to others..." (Narrated by Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah from Zaid bin Thabit ra.)
From Abu Hurairah ra. said, Rasulullah SAW said: "Whoever memorizes 40 hadiths that are beneficial to my ummah from the affairs of their deen, surely Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection along with the scholars. The virtue of an alim compared to an abid (worship expert) is 70 degrees and Allah knows best how much is the distance from one degree to the next."

From Abu Darda ra. said, Rasulullah SAW was asked what is the limit of knowledge if someone memorizes it then he is a faqih?
Rasulullah SAW replied, "Whoever memorizes for my ummah 40 hadiths from the case of their deen, surely Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Judgment as a faqih and I will be a giver of intercession and a witness for him".
