Man has been growing potatoes for at least 7000 years. It is known for certain that this vegetable was the main food of the tribes living in the Andes region, the first tubers from South America were delivered to Europe by Spanish sailors. Today, potatoes are one of the most common crops cultivated for food, with a total area of 8000 hectares. In this regard, scientific research on the search, selection, preservation and creation of source material for further breeding of high-yielding potato varieties adapted to soil and climatic conditions is relevant for the development of agriculture.
