COMTRADE is a common format for the exchange of transient data (oscillography) and digital status data. It is most generally created by power system protective relays and/or digital fault recorders or software related to power system analysis. The COMTRADE file format is standardized in IEEE Standard C37.111 and IEC 60255-24, "Common format for transient data exchange (COMTRADE) for power systems".
