The objective of the App
Nutritional RIsk assessment- NUTRIENT allows the evaluation of the patient's nutritional status oncology allows ie to medical oncologist to identify the states of malnutrition, intervene directly or refer the patient to the center of the nearest Nutrition Clinic, monitor and reassess the patient; allows the patient access to text and multimedia iconographic content that can respond to the most immediate nutritional needs of the patient himself (poor appetite, difficulty swallowing, energy needs, etc.) but also the desire for information about diets and nutritional behaviors, styles screws or even just to get answers to questions on the subject.
How it is calculated the risk
The algorithm used is in fact the valid score in the literature.
The TEST FOR IDENTIFICATION OF CANCER PATIENTS AT RISK OF MALNUTRITION then apply to cancer patients (with aggravating circumstances)
and it is adapted from ESPEN guidelines for Nutrition Screening 2002 J.Kondrup, Clin Nutr 2003; 22.4: 415-421.
It includes a preliminary screening to later switch to a full screening that takes account of the alteration of nutritional status and disease severity (ie the increased needs).
If applied to a non-cancer patients may overestimate the risk or otherwise confuse caregivers about the patient's nutritional status.
