The Vigenere cipher method is part of classical cryptography. The name Vigenere is taken from a person named Blaise de Vigenere. Vigenere cipher is an example of a "manual" plural-alphabet cipher published by a French diplomat (and a cryptologist), Blaise de Vigenere in the 16th century, although Giovan Batista Belaso described it for the first time in 1553 as written in his book La Cifra del Sig, but this algorithm was widely known 200 years later by the inventor later called Vigenere cipher.
